This play, with such a frivolous, ironical and comical title, should have been called – and in fact it was originally called – “God himself is a woman”.
There walk amongst us little saints, second-class martyrs, unaccredited gods. We have a great deal of routine inside us. We're steeped in selfishness, boredom and insensitivity. We have no time to care about the others because we have no time to care about ourselves either.
We're not interested in second-hand saints. Moth-eaten miracles make us laugh. Martyrs who do not die in front of us are branded as impostors.
„My Sex Life” is a play about a woman who never went to angel university. She does not have a diploma in sainthood and she does not operate a private practice performing miracles for money, C.O.M. (customer's own material). The woman in "My Sex Life" is the woman living in the apartment next door. We live in the same building as she does, and yet we don't know her. We see her daily, and yet this doesn't mean anything to us. Just a woman, that's all.
In her turn, Dorina lives amongst people who, in their turn, live in a country called  Romania, which, in its turn, is located on a certain level of history, and history, everybody knows, is fickle, rapacious and inventive.
To top it all, I'll tell you that my second-hand saint works in a sex shop.
It is up to you to comment, after the play is over. Whatever my intentions, they do not matter if, once back in the street, you won't feel solidarity and at least a little love for my second-hand saint working in a sex shop in today's Romania, in this moment's Romania.
